I absolutely love this little neighborhood cafe. The owner is very community-focused, and is doing good work in helping the neighborhood develop. Everyone is always really friendly, and they make really good breakfast and espresso. The prep/bar area is really small, but they still turn out some really good stuff, and that leaves the rest of the space for customer seating. The place is very sunny, and there are lots of outlets for laptops. They also have a computer you can pay by the minute to use.
This is place is small and cozy. I've never been here but I bike or run past it frequently. Decided to pop in for breakfast. The staff is friendly and the options for everything looked good. I settled with the breakfast burrito and it was good but what blew me away was that the apple fritters they sell are the same type I've been searching the city for. I'll certainly be back here again.
Met the owner and his family while looking at houses in the neighborhood. He helped convince me that this is an area I should live. He is very active in the community and helped start the First Fridays event that is held right out front.
I had an iced hibiscus ginger tea that was delicious. A friend had an iced coffee. Nice assortment of sandwiches and pastries for lunch and dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating. I told him that I can't have gluten and he said he does have a gluten free bread he can substitute on any of the sandwiches. Interesting bourbon menu as well. Great for an evening sip for locals who can just walk around the corner home. Prices were typical for specialty coffees and teas with several sizes offered. Some people may think they are overpriced.
We stopped in for a quick coffee and pastry, and man... these guys make great coffee, really yummy (and giant) sticky buns, and are extremely friendly. I mean my wife and I didn’t expect to walk away so fully pleased with the beverage and community. Will seek this place out next time we pass through Richmond.
Excellent experience. Stopped in before a road trip for a quick bite and coffee. The people here are awesome! I'll definitely be back.
