Have fun, spend money. Just kidding. The first had a great time. We love the venue and the atmosphere of the games. The food selection is pretty good. Is like to see a veg or vegan burger though as I have picky eaters. Otherwise, no issues. Even the medical staff is great. Sadly we had to meet them to.
Current home to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Try as they might no one has been able to build it's replacement. The old girl definitely shows her age, but hasn't dropped concrete on anyone in a long time. Games here are cheap and the food is affordable. Great way to spend a few hours. Have Funn, Go Nuts!
The field of play is beautiful looking -- hats off to the groundskeepers.
Such a fun experience! The entertainment team and staff does a wonderful job ever game. Giveaways are awesome!
Going to The Diamond for a minor league baseball game (currently the Richmond Flying Squirrels) is a fun family affair.
The food served here really is not bad at all, with 2 buck hot dogs being the best deal (IMHO) and with good local selections of beer... tho at a fairly steep price (like $6.50 for a 16 ounce draft beer).
Sorry diamond, but you need to be replaced. It's no secret that the stadium is built for one purpose and that is to sit in your seat the whole time. The squirrels put on a great show but it could be so much better with an open air park with a great general admission outfield and space to walk around while still watching the game. If you ever get out of your seat at the diamond you enter a concrete dungeon with puddles everywhere. Again the squirrels are a fun organization but they are brought down by their 1 dimensional stadium.
I suggest the peanut gallery seats on bark in the park night. The love seat are comfortable and the dogs are fun to watch!!!
The facility is old, but also has that nostalgic feeling. The stairs coming into the park and going up to the General Admission sections are very steep and very narrow, and you really have to pay attention (and keep close watch on the young ones).
In all, a very good evening of family entertainment - affordable by most sporting event standards these days.
