Service with a smile. Unfortunately, you don't get that here. I had a lot of books for classes and they made me feel bad that I had so many books. :(

I wouldn't even give them a full star. I ordered an e-book last night from VCU Bookholders around 4 pm. I received a confirmation email last night as well as one today telling me my order was ready. I arrived at the store, scanned my code and waited 25 minutes for someone to call me up - only to tell me they lost my e-book. The woman told me they had another copy for the same price and that I would be able to pay with the same card (I ordered using my mom's Amex online). Neither of these things were true - the book was double the price of the book I already purchased ($17.09 vs $31.00) and since she had already refunded my previous purchase, I would not be able to use the same card. She did not apologize once for the situation, and refused to discount the other e-book to the initial price. I asked for Bookholders to eat the cost difference since they lost my already purchased textbook. She then began to search for other options online, which I was also unhappy with because she was holding a second copy in her hand that I could easily purchase for the same price at the cost of the company. She walked away before anything was resolved - I assumed to look for my copy one more time. When she returned 5 minutes later, she informed me my copy was still missing and the second copy had already been sold while I was waiting for her to return. I asked for her direct manager, she informed me that she was the manager on duty - so I requested the top manager's contact information. She began to write down customer support, which I realized and asked for a THIRD time to get her manager's contact information. I received an email address with no name or number. This situation is absurd, the semester begins in two days and there was zero effort made on the part of the store to remedy the situation. I will NEVER buy from Bookholder's again and I will advise others to do the same. It is absurd to lose someone's already purchased product and then to refuse to rectify the situation. I am extremely unhappy with the customer service I received and with the way the situation was handled. I was extremely patient until I was told the only other copy was sold literally while I was standing in the store.

Great customer service and affordable!

Cheapest local option for textbooks by far. Good luck selling them back here though, their system where you give them back your book and they keep it and give you money once they sell it is a rip off; the price will keep decreasing while nobody buys it and you end up with a check for 70 cents. The store itself is drab and depressing to go inside, but the service is good enough and I definitely get enough stuff there every semester to give it a positive review!

Normally I recommend people to book holders because yes the prices are cheaper. But after this time I don't think I will be purchasing from them again. I got some books with cheaper prices at another place. Not only that after having to order a clicker for my STAT 210 class and I was told it would take at the most 10 days. Well I am sitting on two weeks at the moment. Went to them on day 10 and asked the status of my order was told it would be in the store the next day by 3 pm. I am on day 13 almost 14 and talked to them this morning and was told it would be here tomorrow. Problem with that is my teacher has already started taking grades from the clicker responses and now I have missed two days worth of grades. All the woman on the phone said with this most unsure voice and tone was "again sorry". I know we had snow but common now.
