I have reached out to corporate Golds and have no problem getting a lawyer’s opinion on my contract and what this manager is saying.
Unfortunate that I can’t review less stars. Also quite unfortunate that I would’ve continued to workout and utilize this gym if there had not been such poor handling of a personal training contract.
I really like Zach, on my first visit he give tour of Gym and explain everything well.
Very nice gym. Can get crowded at times but I dont go at peak times so I rarely see a crowded gym. Good bang for your buck.
Don’t even get me started on their Taft Collection services, which by the way is a contracted collection agency employed by this Golds that will try and call you and scare you I to giving them your money.
Equipment is good... however staff does not communicate well. Have received multiple counts of DIFFERENT information amongst staff members. Most staff members are kind. Manager has shown to be incredibly rude and cares more about the business rather than its members.
They will do anything they can to NOT let you transfer or cancel your membership. A gym is supposed to be CONVENIENT and comfortable and Gold’s is supposed to stand for their customers... well this gym does NOT. This gym does not care about their customers and only wants money.
P.S. Don’t bother responding to this review as I will not be swayed to rejoin this or ANY Gold’s.
This gym clearly is in it for the money and not their retention for their customers. After getting the run around over the phone from multiple employees about billing and contracts, my husband and I went in to the location to speak with a general manager. He told us he could do absolutely nothing about contracts and when asking personally if I were to get pregnant and wanted to make the personal decision to cancel my contract he instead suggested, “there’s the option to freeze” and even “we have plenty of customers that get pregnant and remain personal trainees”. The fact that even a personal medical condition could not get you out of a contract from this location is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. I am not hesitating to involve my lawyer in this bogus “contract” scenario.
*Most important info: came here at 225lbs in Sep. 2016 and now I'm 188lbs in Sep 2017. Gyms work If you put in the effort!!*
Finally, as someone who has worked in multiple customer service and sales oriented positions I would never EVER treat my customers like this. And my husband who consistently refers his customers to businesses would NEVER refer anyone here. I know personally what good customer service and reviews can do for a business and I will never refer a friend or colleague to Gold’s.
Wish I would have read all of these poor reviews because there are A LOT of poor reviews prior to joining in July. I cannot believe the horrible customer service! I would not recommend this Golds. I have been to Other Golds that were great with great staff as well, not to mention you get way more for your money. Do not join this gym if you haven’t done so- you will certainly end up getting screwed over.
I've been going here for a year and a half and I've had nothing but good experiences. I highly suggest paying the highest upfront fee to get the lowest monthly payment. If you actually use your membership like I do, you'll save hundreds of dollars annually. Facility is generally clean and well maintained. Aesthetic upgrades have taken place here in the past year that make it an even more inviting location. The general manager and most of the staff are very nice and helpful. When I noticed the internet wasnt functionally properly Thomas the general manager made it a priority to be fixed and worked with his tech team and Comcast to ensure all club members have a consistent internet experience. I came from the VCU Cary street gym to this place when I graduated and I couldn't be happier with having Golds West End as my primary health club.
