The Women’s Center is awesome! The care provided by the nursing staff was great...the concern they showed for the family was great...and the doctors there are on top of everything starting with surgical team leading to the pediatric ward. Admirable experience!
This was the worst hospital experience I’ve had since being a father. My hope is that after you read this review you won’t go here. I went to Henrico ER for the first time a few months ago with my five year old son because of an injury I thought needed medical attention from an ER (the details aren’t important). The first red flag was that the intake person doubled as the front desk receptionist and I had to explain my son’s story multiple times while this person told other customers general hospital information (where is the bathroom, etc.). Second red flag was that the billing person (separate person) quoted me an amount that was double what was on the back of my insurance card ($200 versus $100 for ER visit) and when I questioned it, I was told that my co-pay was higher because they are a “trauma center”. However, they would only charge me $160 if I paid my balance in full right now! Is this a hospital or a flipping pawn shop?? After sitting in the waiting room for over an hour and watching several other elderly people pass us by, I got frustrated and decided to leave. The billing person (separate from intake) told me that I would not be charged which was reasonable since the wait was very long, multiple excuses about a pediatric Dr. Not being currently available and receiving no medical attention other than intake which included taking my Son’s temperature and measuring his height. So I left and went to kid med which was a 30 minute visit all in... not to mention a fraction of the cost. A few weeks later a bill for $100 dollars shows up at my house which represented my ER co-pay after billing my insurance a completely unreasonable amount. I called and complained but they didn’t care. They forwarded my “case” along for further review. Almost two months later the same bill shows up with a letter indicating that I’m financially responsible for the $100. This place is a joke. They are the type of bureaucracy that gives hospitals a bad name and are the reason that healthcare costs are completely out of control in this country. I have had great experiences at the Ped unit at Chippenham so if you think your kid needs attention from an ER go there. Otherwise I would strongly recommend kid-med.
The hospital staff was wonderful to me, my issue was with the HCA Financial team. I made payment arrangements BEFORE my surgery took place, paid religiously every month, more than I said I would & 10 months later I get a collections call. Thinking it was a mistake because I'd received no notification that this was headed to collections, I called the finance folks and after a round of extremely rude people, I find out they've turned me into collections for not making payments arrangements! They said I didn't make the "right kind" of arrangements and refused to pull this back from collections. That team leaves a lot to be desired. It's like dealing with DMV! My suggestion to anyone needing surgery, make your arrangements & keep track of EVERYONE you speak to & their contact information. Call them every month to make sure your account is okay and not headed to collections, because they surely won't tell you beforehand. Terrible to deal with...just terrible.
I've had outstanding care at this hospital. The nurses are always ready to assist me. The doctors are informative and highly skilled. Everyone is very friendly and professional.
ZERO STARS!! My 6yo daughter has been suffering with severe stomach pains and after visiting her regular pediatrician 2x in one week, they recommended the next step of imaging at the ER. After falling asleep last Friday and waking up crying ONE HOUR LATER yet again, my husband took her to the ER. He was brought back and the DR came in to do a quick exam. They were there for 20 minutes total. My daughter acted fairly normal but my husband was completely ignored when he was telling about her severe pains and crying not 30 minutes prior. The Dr said he saw no reason to give imaging and recommended GAS-X and sent her home. We went to St Mary's the next night and we were told that it was common for kids to act different at the hospital. St Mary's did imaging, and now we are getting her an MRI because she's displaying neurological symptoms. Then henrico drs has the gall to charge my insurance company $808! For 20 minutes and failure to act upon the request of the parents. Total malpractice!!!! We will fight this charge for the arrogant and flippant attitude of the doctor. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
