Everything about this place is 5 stars. Parking was easy in the adjacent deck. The grounds surrounding the museum are great and speckled with pieces of art. As a bonus, everything is wheelchair accessible! The museum itself is huge with incredible pieces from several different periods. We were there for several hours and still had more to see. The people working there are very helpful and friendly. We even had occasion to go to the restaurant inside and the food was excellent. Overall an amazing experience.
A+++
Recommended as well: the cafeteria area where you can grab a drink and a nibble and sit in the sweet Virginia air and watch the water roll through the crafted water systems that are exhibits themselves
I've been to fine arts museums around the country and this one does one of the best jobs at curating their exhibits. Large and interesting variety in the permanent collections. I especially like the Art Nouveau and Art Deco sections as few museums have such large collections of this work. Also be sure to see the mid-range to late-20th century paintings!
Absolutely spectacular. From the constantly changing exhibits, to the clean, sleek interior design. The museum itself is almost a piece of art, with amazing detail given to the landscaping, which is set in the middle of one of America's most historic areas. The museum itself is free with the special exhibits costing money
I like the whole museum, full of interesting beautiful pieces. They seem to have a bit of everything. The statue garden is a great place to hang out after seeing the museum. My only problem is the cost of the cafe. I had a little chicken sandwich and it cost me 6.50. It tasted great though.
Visited the Terracotta army special display today and it is a must see for anyone that is interested in this period. I would never be able to see one in person and here they are in Richmond. My wife is a artist so the rest of the museum is OK and worth taking it all in while you are there. With art you like what you like and the rest is just noise.
