I was highly impressed and not disappointed best to come early so you can get a seat this is a very cozy place that reminds me of a converted neighborhood bar from yester years.
We were very disappointed. I'm not sure why this place has so many stars. Dave, who we were told was the manager, is rude, abrasive, aggressive and disrespectful. Our server, Sam, was great. And the food was decent. But it was not worth the wait and we will not be back. Shame on Ed, for allowing Dave to work there.
A hidden neighborhood dive with excellent Italian food. I suggest arriving early as there can be a wait and they run out of certain delicious foods as the night goes on! Very dim but romantic lighting at night, sharing food is encouraged.
The food here is incredible and prices are reasonable. I was glad I read reveiws before I went since the service is not very accomadating but I was prepared. They wouldn't seat us until everyone in our party was in the building. Luckily we got there right when they opened so tables were available but it did get crowded even on a Tuesday. They take credit cards now but they will not split the bill. Be prepared with what you want to order for drinks and food because they don't check on you often. Not necessarily a bad thing. Lamb meatballs were amazing. House bread is basic.
Mamma'Zu has the best Italian family-style meals you can imagine in Richmond. Sample everything by bringing a big group and order as many items as your group can. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water for more.
