Fabulous service. They have the most awesome beer list I have ever seen and when my husband couldn't choose, the waiter assisted with a sample of some beer he thought he would enjoy. We started with the dumplings, they had thick flour wrapper and though nice, they were not wonderful. Nice extensive menu with a page for vegetarians. I would love to have seen the soup noodles offered with something other than chicken broth. It would be a simple change that would really increase the options. We started with the dumplings, they had thick flour wrapper and though nice, they were not wonderful. For our main course we had the egg noodles, chicken clay pot and the shrimp soup. The soup and especially the noodles had waaay too much sugar. I am not a big fan of sweet dishes and I felt this was Vietnamese food American style. The chicken my husband said was average. I was really disappointed in our food because of the great reviews. I loved the service and the beer selection but I really felt the food did not live up to it's reputation . The restaurant consists of a large space with an almost sports bar feel. Three TVs on the wall, booths and bar tables. Family friendly and relaxed.
The food is good and the service solid. What makes this place really good is it's beer selection. Fantastic stuff and easy to find great pairings with any type of meal...
This is a versatile restaurant which is good for casual dining and large groups. We held a rehearsal dinner here and had excellent service, good food, and very reasonable prices. They are famous for their beer menu. It does not disappoint. The top dishes for non-adventurous eaters include the broken rice meals, the noodle bowls, and the wrap- your-own spring roll. If you are allergic to MSG stay away from the fried foods. Tofu dishes are also nice. Be sure to check out the hand-crafted small booths for two in the bar area. Fine craftsmanship and comfy as hell. The bathrooms are enormous. Should you want to do some bathroom line dancing I recommend keeping it to 4 or less people.
Of course I have to mention the beer list - great selection! Aside from that the restaurant is spacious and the staff are efficient and friendly. The food is reliable and a solid 4 out of 5 stars every time. The brown sauce served over the beef or the chicken dishes is delicious - it’s not gelatinous like other places, and very flavorful.
Was a regular at Mekong for 20 years. Will never go back again. We ordered the seafood soup with chicken broth which is our normal order. The soup broth tasted like dishwater. Not fit to eat. Was told by the owner’s son that I was wrong and he didn’t care if I ever came back. The soup was terrible and I will not be back. Had I been treated fairly and with proper respect, I would give them another chance. But not now. Clearly they don’t care about their regular patrons..
$ 55.25 for a meal for three, three main course, one appetizer, no alcohol or desert.
