Over the weekend, the alkaline latex sap from a euphorbia plant got into and burned my eye. The excruciating pain subsided but the swelling and badly blurred vision, though lessened, still remained 24 hours later. Knowing if left untreated the eye could ne permanantly damaged, I called the Grove location. Though there were no appointments available there, the receptionist made time for me with Dr. Levy at tbe Midlo office. Everyone there was terrific - the receptionists were friendly and the tech was thorough and helpful. Dr. Levy was great - he did a quick but comprehensive exam and spent time looking up additional info about the sap and the damage it can do. He also made a point of telling my husband that what he did immediately after the accident kept any lasting damage from happening. I really appreciated the whole practice's effort to get me in and seen quickly, and their kindness.

Now i scheduled an appointment and missed it as i did not record the time since i was told i would get a call or text. My fault for relying on them and it now will cost me 100$ for a missed appointment. I will contact them tomorrow to see if they want my business or the 100$ unfortunately i feel i already know the answer.

Dr. Levy and the entire staff are always incredibly welcoming and professional. It is a busy office because it truly is the best eye care center in Richmond! I appreciate all of the small, personal details that this eye center gives. From the coffee and cookies to the welcoming board with the patients' names for that day, it truly embodies that small-town charm that is often forgotten. Definitely go! They also accept the VCU insurance for students**** Major plus

I have been a patient at the grove ave location for the past 6 years.

So we have bought our lenses and frames from Carytown optical, who is super nice and even spent over an hour with us to find frames.

The eye doctors have been excellent. The people who sell the glasses are so terrible that last year my fiance would not even go back in pick up her lenses due to how bad they had treated her. Of course when i called to address the subject they made sure to tell me how it was our fault that she was insulted and they would do nothing.

I called to make an appointment, hoping to get in some time this week. There wasn't anything available, which is understandable. However, after listing several dates that didn't have any openings, I asked what the next available appointment was. Sounding irritable, the receptionist said she didn't know, and she she would have to look in the system to find out. There was an awkward silence and she did not offer to do so. I asked her how they normally take appointments then and she eventually looked it up. I later cancelled the appointment after being helped elsewhere with better customer service. I don't know why she was so off put by having to look up an appointment time. I wouldn't recommend Grove Eye Clinic until they work on their customer care.

If you’re like me and pay for your healthcare outright (I’m an independent contractor) and can’t afford eye insurance, paying out of pocket for a visit can be tough, not to mention purchasing the over priced frames in the office. DO NOT go into Grove Ave Eye Center expecting to get a prescription that you can use to purchase a nice, attractive, and affordable pair of frames online. (Which was literally my only option financially). I let my optometrist know what my plan was and was assured it wouldn’t be an issue to get my PD (not true). Unlike other establishments that give you the tools you need to see clearly, even if that means going somewhere else for them, they do not. Apparently selling their own frames and making more money comes before the well being of their patients, and to a fault. I wish I had gone elsewhere and I will not be returning.
