I have received outstanding psychiatric health services at VCU Student Health. Never in my life have I met a doctor as empathetic or understanding as Dr. Foreman. The check in process is easy after the first visit and I am nearly always seen on time. I once realized the morning of an appointment that I would not be able to make it and I was able to reschedule for the next day with no problems.
Don't come here unless you're willing to wait over two hours in the waiting room because your doctor "forgot about you". That is, if you're even lucky enough to GET an appointment, since basically every time I've tried to schedule one they've been booked for the next entire week. I just called for a same-day appointment because I have strep throat and I was told that same-day appointments are only for "urgent illnesses". The only reason that I come here is because it's my only option since it's free for VCU students. If you have literally any other option, do not come here.
Not helpful whatsoever, I was in there for less than 20 minutes. The nurse practitioner told me to just continue with otc meds & let it run it's course for 10-14 days. Two weeks seems like way too long to be sick. I'm very unsatisfied with how this visit went & I do not plan on coming here in the future.
Seriously one of the most disorganized places at VCU. Make sure you schedule an appointment 1-2 hours before you have to do anything important because that's how long you'll have to wait just to see a doctor and that's WITH AN APPOINTMENT. What a joke.
Working with my doctor, I absolutely feel like I have been given ample resources and direction to continue to care for both my mental and physical health. Visiting VCU Student Health has been a crucial first step to overall wellness and academic success.
Most unorganized facility at VCU. I have never experienced such a lack of organization, communication, or customer service and when dealing with someone's health and medical treatment, these inadequacies are dangerous. Do not rely on them & only use them as a last result for when going to a family doctor is not possible. The doctors and nurses are great, but the people in charge of running the facility and the people at the front desk I have experienced so have been very inadequate and will put no effort in fixing problems they have caused. I will definitely not be using this facility even for the simplest of medical necessities and instead I will rather travel 2 hours away and pay more money just to not risk another possibility of having an experience like this. I am very disappointed that student health is factored into the per semester bill after experiencing their lack of effort into such key areas.
Because mental health is reliant on so many factors, I was recommended to run some blood tests and see a nutritionist, all which could be done onsite.
