I have never felt so unappreciated in my life. When I go to a jeweler, I would like to be treated like I'm about to spend $100's to $1,000 of dollars on their jewelery. I thought maybe going to a smaller store in Carytown was the answer, but clearly it was not. Make my fiancee feel specail and try to sell her on a nice wedding band. Don't just throw a box of wings down and stare at her while she tries them on. Unappreciative, hostile, and what I consider uncalled for behavior is how I would describe this business.
My experiences with Jeweler's Services in Carytown have been nothing but pleasant. The first time I used their services was to have a couple of things repaired. I have had jewelry repaired other places in the past and have never been happy. Either the jewelry broke shortly after being repaired or I could see the repaired spots. The work I had done at Jeweler's Services was completed when they promised and I was very happy with the results. I recently became engaged and thought I would give them a try for the engagement ring. They listened to my ideas and designed a ring for me using a diamond from my great grandmother's ring. I wanted something unique and they were able to do just what I wanted, making suggestions that improved on my ideas. I would definitely recommend this small custom jeweler and I'll be using them again too.
I will glady tell people about my experience and vow that I'm never walking in that store again.
I went to Jeweler's Services to pick an a wedding band for my fiancee. Previously we had been to the store to have her engagement ring resized and cleaned so we figured we should use the same store.
Upon entering the store well before closing we were met abruptly by I believe the store owner. There was nothing displayed and she simply asked what do we want. When we told her we wanted to look at wedding bands, she asked two questions, went to the back and brought back out a box of rings. She just let her try on different rings and never attempted to make us "want" to buy anything from her. When we told her what we liked, she went to the back, gave us a price and we promptly left.
I returned with the ring to have these issues addressed. The shank was straightened and the milgrain on the shank looked much better. On the portion of the ring where some of the original detail was damaged, they added a design back in, but this design didn't match what was originally there. To make the ring symmetric, they modified the other side of the ring so it would match the new design that they added. This was done without consulting with me at all.
I went here to have my fiancee's ring resized. The ring is an estate piece from the 1930s. They told me the band was too thin, so they had to do a half shank to resize it. When I got the ring back, the new shank wasn't straight, some of the milgrain detail added back onto the new shank was askew and didn't look like the original ring, and a portion of the ring above where the shank was added was damaged. Some of the floral detail in the ring had been ground off.
Ultimately, I think the ring looks ok, but I will not be going back here in the future. I was first given shoddy work and when they fixed their work, they made unauthorized changes to the ring. I would not recommend trusting them with your jewelry.
I brought in several antique rings that had been in my family for 80+ years. I met with Steve the owner and he explained the different types of rings I had and what my options were in order to create the engagement ring my fiance wanted. I felt comfortable entrusting my heirlooms to him as he came highly recommended by a family friend who has known him for years. I left the antique rings with him and received a call about 8 days later letting me know that they were ready for pickup. When I went over and saw them I was shocked at how incredible they looked. My fiance (and perhaps more importantly, her parents and friends) are all in love with it. I would recommend this shop to anyone. They are all true craftsmen/women and take their trade very seriously.
