Yesterday, I bought a 3/4 inch long cuff ring and put it on my middle finger. This morning, I woke up to a swollen, painful finger and a thick brass ring that wouldn't come off. After trying everything I could at home to remove the ring to no avail, my boyfriend started calling jewelers around town to see if we could get the ring cut. Schwartzchild told us to come in and that they would cut the ring with no charge. We were greeted by Chelsea Stern, a wonderful and empathetic presence, who immediately made me feel at ease with her warmth and a nice hot cup of coffee. Holt Griffin was the technician who patiently manually sawed away at the ring for half an hour with no irritation in his face (although, I wouldn't blame him if it was there - it was definitely an annoying task!). He got me ice water to reduce pain and swelling throughout the "surgery" and made me very comfortable. Chelsea frequently checked for anything we needed through the ordeal and was friendly and chatty. I work in hospitality and I hate to be an obnoxious customer, but they never made me feel that way and they didn't charge me a dime. I even asked if I could pay or tip and they refused.
I took a Philip Stein watch in for cleaning and new batteries. Evan was so nice to work with and called me promptly when it was ready.
I can't say much about their jewelry selection, but their service is amazing. Thanks Holt and Chelsea!

Dropped off my watch for a new battery and the sales associate told me the charge would be around $38.00. He also mumbled something about pressure test. When picking up my watch 2 days later, the charge was $75.00 and the difference was explained as the cost for the pressure test. Sleazy tactics and not fitting for a store which used to have a good reputation. Make sure you know what the exact charge will be before allowing them to do any work or, like me, go somewhere else from now on.
