Beautiful Park with tons of trails, lakes and trees. A great place to have a picnic, take the dog, or take pictures. Head to Swan Lake to see all the Geese!
Before moving away from RVA, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Byrd Park; it provided a relaxing place for us to sit during cool evenings and watch the sunset. It was on occasion be a busy place, but on most days was slow in reference to sidewalk traffic.
Large and great park with 3 lakes and 1 has patel boats and fountain in center. Tennis courts are well lit at night. Bathroom and picnic tables at fountain lake. The other 2 lakes are stocked with fish and fishing is allowed . lots of open spaces for frisbee and long walks. Nice smell nature center is here and also next to Maymont park with animals and historic home and beautiful gardens in spring and fall. There well kept jogging trails here as well. Safe place for family with children to run and play.
It's a beautiful park with several beautiful, scenic areas that are great for walking or maybe a picnic. The VITA trail is one mile and has different fitness stations along the way. It is a scenic trail with even terrain. I enjoy taking my son out on the trail in his stroller. Also what's nice about the park is it is surrounded by some beautiful lakes. Fountain Lake is very pretty. It is a half mile around and has benches all along the perimeter in case you just want to sit and take in the scenery. Also, Fountain Lake is the only spot in the area that I have found that has a building with restrooms. Swan Lake is stunning, but the sidewalk does tend to be dirty on account of the birds. Definitely worth visiting though. Swan Lake is serene. Byrd Park also has other neat areas to visit, such as the Virginia War Memorial and the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater (which I believe hosts concerts during the summer). Overall, I am a huge fan of Byrd Park. It is family friendly, great for walks, playing, or just sitting and taking in the beautiful scenery!
A nice park where I occasionally do my weekend run. Lots of ducks and geese around. Some sketchy types pop up once in a while, but the area seems safe enough.
The image I posted of Byrd Park was during the solar eclipse. The eclipse created a real-time filter, the image is untouched!
